Abu Dhabi plans to open ladies-only beaches after the close down of the popular ladies-only beach at Ras Al Akhdar five years ago. These beaches will be completed by the end of 2012 or early next year, though an opening date has not been announced. The ladies-only beaches are open for all women of all nationalities. The ladies-only beaches will be at Al Bateen and another beach at the rear end of Abu Dhabi Officer’s Club.
Moreover, the swimming beach in Abu Dhabi Corniche has been under an expansion phase creating more space to beachgoers. The expanded beach can accommodate around 1500 to 3000 people and overall enjoys more than 15,000 beach lovers. It also includes recreational and entertainment options such as five volleyball areas, two football pitches, four children playgrounds and many more.
