Wonderfruit was formed by founder Pranitan “Pete” Phornprapha with Thai musician and co-founder Montonn “Jay” Jira in an attempt to bring the festival encounter to Thailand, with an importance on arts and mindfulness. The son of the creator of Think Earth, Pete was motivated by the ecological plans of his father’s institute but wanted to combine fun with social accountability, and to resolve conservation issues in an applicable, modern way. He intended to merge quality curation and social responsibility in a platform that will involve audiences.

During 2014 and 2015, Wonderfruit was planned around six “pillars”: Arts, Music, Farm to Feasts, Health & Wellness, Talks & Workshops and Natural Adventures. During 2016, Wonderfruit announced a small change the initial list: Music, Arts, Family, Farm to Feasts, Wellness & Adventures, Talks & Workshops. During 2018, the pillars turned into Music, Art & Architecture, Family, Farm to Feasts, Talks & Workshops, and Wellness.
