British Airways launches flights to Sri Lanka

The flagship carrier of UK British Airways resumes flights to Sri Lanka by March 2013.

Flying to Sri Lanka was stopped during the civil unrest with and resuming operations after an absence of fifteen years.
The director of British Airways Gatwick, Silla Maizey, stated that UK records the second largest number of tourist influx to Sri Lanka. The launch of flights operating three times a week to Sri Lanka will be a fantastic opportunity for travellers.

Sri Lanka is a top tourist destination in Asia. The paradise island has abundance to offer from pristine beaches, wildlife adventures, ayurvedhic spas, religious and cultural sightseeing including the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha and the ancient rock fortress.

The non- stop flights will operate from Male Maldives with a flying time of just over twelve hours and half hours. In addition, passengers travelling to Sri Lanka will be offered a British Airways dedicated check in counter at the Gatwick North Terminal for quick service and convenience.
