The merged South American airline – LATAM received the first Boeing Dreamliner.

Delivered to Santiago (Chile), the passenger jet will operate on long haul routes between South America and United States and Europe under the LAN Airlines brand name.

The airline ordered 32 Boeing Dreamliner 787s, which will be delivered over the next 10 years. The first aircraft will begin operations in October. The second aircraft will be delivered before the end of 2012.

LATAM Airlines was created from the acquisition of Chile’s LAN Airlines and Brazil’s TAM Airlines.
