Lonely Planet Names Sri Lanka Best Destination

One of the world-renowned travel guides, Lonely Planet names Sri Lanka as the top holiday destination for the year 2013. The destinations are decided based on the reviews of online communities, writers, travel experts, and company’s staff.

Stop to the devastating civil war for almost three decades, the paradise island is booming with constructions, opening up new attractions and enjoying an influx of tourists from all over the world.

Sneak peak to the newest attractions in Sri Lanka includes eco tourist hot spots in Puttalam Lagoon and Kalpitiya, blue whale migration and sightseeing near Dondra Head, southern coast of Sri Lanka, reopening of Yala National Park and Wilpattu National Park after being closed for more than two decades.

Lonely Planet states Sri Lanka being emerging as a valued vacation destination. Due to easy reach from regional hubs and cheap fares, Sri Lanka is easily accessible than before.
