Visit La Asuncion
La Asuncion is a beautiful valley town located in the district of Nueve Esparta. Wander around and explore places such as the cathedral; thought to be the oldest colonial church in the country. Browse the museums around the plaza and explore Castilo de Santa Rosa.
Check out La Restinga National Park
This beautiful water park is home to gorgeous mangrove forests. Boat tours are available from the entrance. The boats will also drop you off at a shell beach and come back at a specified time. On the beach is a cosy little restaurant.
Enjoy the Sunset at Fortin de La Galera
This beautiful fort is located atop a hill north of Juan Griego. Get there around 6 pm and you will be rewarded with sights of a stunning sunset. Take along the camera for the place has many photo opportunities and lots of little Spanish kids eager to be tour guides.

Guacuco Beach
It is less crowded than the more touristy spots and is loved by the locals. Guacuco boasts crystal clear waters for swimming and other fun water activities while the beaches are ideal for sunbathing and people watching.
Drive up to Cero El Copey
The drive is steep but getting all the way up to Cero El Copey is worth the effort. You are rewarded with gorgeous views across Porlamar. You need to hike the last 5kms or enjoy the view from the entry point.
