Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center

Considered to be the key for worship in the country, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center was initiated by late president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who wanted to build a structure that unites the cultural diversity of the Islamic world. The construction of the mosque took place between 1996 and 2007 and is the largest in the United Arab Emirates. The mosque covers an area of 12 hectares. It draws more than 41,000 people during the Eid period.

Yas Marina Circuit

The venue of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix opened in 2009 and was designed by Hermann Tilke and is located about 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi. The opening of the circuit was celebrated with a two day GP2 Asia Series test. Other events that have been held here include the opening event for Australian V8 Supercars and the Yas V8 400. It can seat upto 50,000 people and cost $1.322 billion to construct.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

Ferrari World is the first and only branded theme park and largest indoor theme park in the world. It is the home of the fastest roller coaster in the world, the Formula Rossa. Covering an area of 86,000 square meters, Ferrari World took three years to develop and was finally opened to the public on 3rd November 2010. The park was named the ‘Middle East’s Leading Tourist Attraction’ in 2015 at the World Travel Awards.

Emirates Park Zoo

The Emirates Park Zoo is located inside the Emirates Park Resort and is a great place to spend the day with your family and have lots of fun learning and adventure. The zoo was opened in 2008 as the first private zoo in the country. The zoo is home to a variety of wildlife and other features, attractions and activities. A visit to this zoo will give you the chance to take home unique experiences, new discoveries and unforgettable memories.

Aldar HQ Building

This building is the first circular building of its kind in the Middle East and is situated in Al Raha, Abu Dhabi. It was voted the ‘Best Futuristic Design’ by The Building Exchange Conference in Spain. The Aldar features 12 passenger elevators, 2 service elevators, 3 mono space elevators, 1 circular hydraulic lift and 2 dumbwaiters and was designed according to the Golden Ratio.

Eastern Mangrove Lagoon National Park

This tranquil lagoon is home to a wide variety of fish and birds and is best explored on water. Especially interesting are the Kayak excursions that teach you all about the history of the lagoon and allow you to do a full exploration of the island. It’s also the perfect spot for bird watching too.

Emirates National Auto Museum

This car museum is housed in a pyramid shaped building and is located to the south of Abu Dhabi city and displays about 200 cars that belonged to HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. The collection at the museum includes a large amount of off-road vehicles, classic American cars, the Sheikhs rainbow collection and the largest truck in the world.

Heritage Village

The Heritage Village is an open museum and is a reconstruction of a traditional village and gives a glimpse into the emirates past. The village showcases traditional aspects of desert life and includes a campfire with coffee pots, a goat’s hair tent, and a falaj irrigation system. Workshops in the museum show traditional skills like metal work, pottery, weaving and spinning.

Qasr Al Hosn Fort

This is Abu Dhabi’s oldest stone building and was also known as the White Fort or Old Fort. It was constructed in 1761 as a watchtower and was later expanded into a small fort in 1793 and eventually became the residence of the ruling sheikh. Its present shape came to be when a major extension was carried out in 1930. Its name means ‘Palace Fort’ and was a seat of government until 1966.
