Mediterraneo Marine Park
The Mediterraneo Marine Park is Malta’s only marine park. It promotes marine life conservation and couples entertainment with learning experiences for all ages. Located on the coast with a backdrop of the Mediterranean sea, the park encourages interaction with selected marine mammals like dolphins and sea lions. It is open all year round.
Holy Trinity Church
This is an Anglican church in Sliema. It was built to resemble an English village church and was completed in 1844 and consecrated in 1867. The building near the church is called the Bishops House and was built in 1855 as the residence of the vicar. It continues to serve the same purpose today.
Fort Manoel
This star fort was built in the 18th century by the Order of St. John. The British took over the fort in 1800 and was used by them until 1964. It was badly damaged in World War II but was restored. Fort Manoel commands the anchorage of Sliema Creek and it’s design is an example of Baroque architecture.
Lazy Pirate Party Boat
Malta’s famous boat party takes place on the Turkish gullet ‘Fernandes 2’. This on board party includes an open bar, DJ, and a moonlight swim. The vessel departs from Sliema Ferries and the party goes on until the boat comes back to Sliema at midnight.
Manoel Island
This small Island is named after the Portugese grandmaster Antonio Manoel de Vilhena. The island is flat and shaped like a leaf and is 0.5 square km’s in size. It was used as a quarantine island by the knights of St. John for the plague and other infectious diseases that were common in those days. More recently it was used as a World War II submarine base.
Artitude Gallery
The Artitude Gallery is a modern art gallery that showcases contemporary local and foreign talent with paintings, sculptures and applied art. The art available here can be viewed as well as purchased. It is most definetly great value for money.
Parish Church of Jesus of Nazareth
This church was built by Marchese Ermolao Zimmerman Barbaro Di San Giorgio and was dedicated in the year 1895. Dominican Friars took the church over in 1908 and it became a parish church in 1973.
Teatru Salesjan
This is a small theatre that was built in 1908 and is located right at Malta’s commercial center. It is run by the salesians of Don Bosco. It hosts more than 30 events every year. This theatre is where you want to go to see some stage plays from Shakespeare to original plays.
Sliema Passegiata
This is a promenade that stretches for 3 kilometers. It is perfect to be enjoyed with a family or even if you prefer a more romantic place with your partner, this will fit both. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the views of the city from one of the many benchs.
The Lazarett Hospital
The Lazarett Hospital is located on Manoel Island and was only used for the quarantine of people with incurable diseases such as leprosy or the plague. The hospital still stands and is best viewed from a ship or boat.
