Lindholm Hoje

This is a major burial site and former settlement of the Vikings located to the North of Aalborg. The southern part of this site dates back to 1000 – 1050 AD, The Viking Age while the Northern part dates back to the 5th century AD, The Nordic Age. Also a part of the site is a museum which was opened in 1992, this museum was enlarged in 2008 and a new exhibition of pre-history in the area was opened.

Springeren - Maritimt Oplevelsescenter

This is a maritime museum that offers exhibits of beautiful ship models, a visit in the submarine SPRINGEREN and many other maritime experiences. The museum was opened on 24th May 1992. Since its opening the exhibits have increased and it now houses a comprehensive collection of radios and transmitters as well as various nautical instruments.

Aalborgtarnet

The Aalborgtarnet or Aalborg tower is an observation tower that stands 54.9 meters tall. It is built of lattice steel and is located on top of a hill which contributes to a total height of 105 meters above sea level. It was completed in 1933 and underwent refurbishment from February 2005 to March 2005. It includes a restaurant at the top.

Budolfi Domkirk

This cathedral was built in the 12th century and it’s interior gives off an almost Mediterranean ambience. It’s foyer ceiling has beautiful frescoes dating back to 1500. It also has beautifully carved items such as a gilded baroque altar and a richly detailed pulpit. It is open to visitors on the weekdays.

Nordkraft

This is the central culture house in the city and has a theatre, music venue, cinema and sports center. This is where you can experience great concerts, stand-up shows and the best movies at its three cinema screens. It also hosts a restaurant if you are looking for a nice place to have a meal.

The Park of music

The Park of Music is a part of the city park Kilderparken, many artists have planted a tree in this park to mark their visit since 1987. One of the first artists to have planted a tree here was Sir Cliff Richard and today more than 80 great artists have left their mark here with a tree. It also has singing trees and at the press of a button these trees play the songs of the artist who planted them.

Kunsten Museum of Modern Art

The Kunsten museum was built according to a modern Scandinavian design between 1968 – 1972 by Finnish architects Elissa and Alvar Aalto along with Danish architect Jean Jacques Baruel. The museum was completed on 8 June 1972 and is known as ‘a showplace for 20th century Danish and International Art.

Utzon Center

This is a museum and the last building to be designed by the architect that designed the Sydney Opera House Jorn Utzon. His initial plan for it was not as a museum but as a place for students of architecture to meet and discuss their ideas. It is located on the Limfjord waterfront and was completed in 2008.

Abbey of our Lady

This church was an early Benedectine monestry in Aalborg. It survived as a parish church with the name Church of our lady until 1876 and was then demolished and rebuilt under its current name. Two bells from the former church have been preserved here and one of them which was made in the 12th century is the oldest bell still in use in Denmark.

Gjol Church

Built in the Romanesque style,dating back to 1130 and built by Mester Goti. This is one of the only churches in Denmark whose builder Is known. The golden altarpiece found in the church was made by Hans Brugman Fra Husum. The porch also includes a sculpture carved in stone of Adam and Eve next to the tree of paradise.
