TOP 10 PLACES TO VISIT

Check out our Top 10 attractions in and make sure you don't miss it

Ayers Rock – Uluru

Ayers Rock the iconic Australian attraction is a world heritage site. Named Uluru in local dialect the location holds much spiritual significance to the local Anangu tribes. A significant phenomenon to witness is how the rock changes colours during sunset and sunrise.

The Olgas – Kata Tjuta

Kata Tjuta means ‘many heads’ and is coined due to the 36 domed red rocks that make up the Olgas. These red rocks are interspersed with beautiful valleys and deep gorges. A treat to explore this is a must visit for all nature lovers.

Alice Springs

Steeped in history and predominantly the essence of old Australia, Alice Springs is home to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens and the old Telegraph Station. This is the place to introduce your taste-buds to ‘bush-tucker’ - bush food.

Kings Canyon

Beautiful Kings Canyon boasts pre-historic red sandstone walls that grow up to a height of 100 metres ending in rocky plateau domes. At the base are glistening pools around which an exotic array of flora and fauna grow. Look out for sights of the visiting wildlife; indigenous to the outback.

Katherine Gorge

The beautiful Gorge and its waters are broad enough to accommodate a boat. Enjoy skimming along the gorge, lookout for Aborigine rock paintings and swimming at lush Edith Falls.

Australian Desert

The Red Centre or Australian Centre is quite unique. The red sand terrain is quite similar to that of Mars, but the desert is hardly barren. Look forward to coming across glistening water holes; surrounded by wild plants and curious wildlife.

Splendours of Wild Nature

The Red Centre is quite unlike any other desert experience. Nature untamed in all its glory awaits you there. A good start would be to visit the Alice Springs Desert Park. Explore wild shrubs, desert flowers and interesting wildlife such as strange lizards and the ‘Thorny Devil’.

Camel Rides

Camel Rides across the outback is quite an adventure. Camels are not native to Australia but were introduced in the 19th century for convenient transport facilities in the desert. This is quite a unique experience to be enjoyed in the Red Centre.

Savour the Cultural Heritage

Ayers Rock in the Red Centre is where you will savour many traditional legends. Uluru as it is locally known is the base for many Aboriginal myths, traditions and dreamtime stories. Take the tour and learn about the ‘Creation Myth’. Climbing Ayers Rock although allowed is considered discourteous by the Aboriginals and is a point to be taken into consideration.

Sleeping Under the Stars

The Red Centre is the best place to sleep under an amazing blanket of stars. The desert sky is far more brilliant and vast than any other place; where stars are more brilliant and clearly visible. Camping facilities are readily available to those seeking to enjoy the splendours of a desert night.
