Khyber Pass
The most famous pass of the world, the Khyber Pass, is 16 km from Peshawar. It has been, throughout history, the most important gateway to the plains of the South Asian sub-continent both for migration and invasion. Starting from the foot-hills of the Suleiman Range at the Jamrud; 11 miles from Peshawar, it extends beyond the border of Pakistan at Torkham, 36 miles away and it gradually rises to an elevation of 1,066 meters above sea level. The pass is 1 ½ km at its widest and only 16 meters at its narrowest.
Qissa Khawani Bazaar
Qissa Khawani Bazaar is a place which travelers must visit,because of it,s historical background,Qissa Khawani means the Bazaar of Story Tellers,in the older times there use to be professional story tellers,caravan arriving from different central Asian states staying in the inns.
Bala-Hisar Fort
Bala Hisar is a heavily-guarded fort that is located now centrally (in Old Peshawar it would have been in the north-western corner). It was built in the 16th century and has seen a long history.

Jamrud Fort
Near Peshawar you are in the government lands of the Khalid tribe. About 20km east of Peshawar is Jamrud Fort, built by the Sikhs in 1823 to mark the western edge of their empire(one of the few to expand westward to the Khyber). Its trademark stone arch over the road marks the formal entrance to the pass. Once you cross under the arch you enter Tribal Areas popluated by the Afridi tribe. Pakistani law gives way to tribal law just after the gate.
Walled City - Old Peshawar
As an ancient town where the footprints of many diverse civilisations lay, Peshawar has several interesting historical sites. The old city was once a heavily guarded citadel with high walls.
Masjid
Near the narrowest point of the khyber pass, about 15 Km from Jamrud is Ali Masjid and a large fort and a british cemetry. The valley walls bear insignia of British regiments that have served here.
Buddhist Stuppas
On the south eastern outskirts of the Peshawar city are the crumbled remains of huge stupa......the age + - 2 AD. This is a Buddhist Stupa, founded in the early 20 th centuary ( + -1900). Only the foundation of the monastery, once magnificent with with it's double storied pavilions and high corner towers, remain to tell it's fascinating story.
Chowk Yadgar
Chowk Yaadgar (the place of remembrance) is old Peshawar's central square, is at the end of the Ander Shehr. The traditional site of political rallies, is the Speakers Corner of Peshawar, and the heroes of the 1965
