Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Just outside of the town, this sanctuary is located in the hills of the Western Area Forest Reserve. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and will talk about the history of the sanctuary if you would like to know.
Lumley Beach

A church built by the government to cater to the spiritual upliftment of the country following the liberation, this structure still stands today although the number of followers has dwindled. A church that has seen more people than it can hold, it still conducts services.
The Banana Islands
A 20 minute boat ride from Kent, the islands offer good snorkelling and fishing opportunities. Another possibility is to take a canoe ride around the island. Accommodation, managed by the Banana Island Youth Association, is available on the island.
