{"id":32726,"date":"2021-11-22T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.travelcenter.uk\/?p=32726"},"modified":"2021-11-22T13:26:55","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T13:26:55","slug":"travel-update-british-travellers-will-have-to-pay-to-enter-the-eu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.travelcenter.uk\/blog\/travel-update-british-travellers-will-have-to-pay-to-enter-the-eu\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel Update: British travellers will have to pay to enter the EU!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">This week&#8217;s travel update: UK holidaymakers will have to pay a fee to enter 26 countries in the European Union from next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">Non-EU residents must fill out an application for entry that costs \u20ac7 (about \u00a35 at the current exchange rate).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">According to MYLondon Reports, the visa is free of charge at the moment, but the new fee will cover administrative costs and is intended to <em><strong>&#8220;increase security and help prevent health threats to the bloc&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">This new change is being called the &#8220;European Travel Information and Authorisation System&#8221; or ETIAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">Prior to their arrival, travellers must fill out an online application and pay the fee. However, it is free for those under 18 and over 70<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">Passengers will be asked to fill out information regarding their passports and travel details, along with some security questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">Once the application has been completed &amp; approved, it lasts for three years, so it doesn&#8217;t need to be done every time you decide to fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">It is also hoped that ETIAS will enhance Europe&#8217;s internal security &amp; help defeat terrorists and criminals by spotting suspicious individuals and stopping them from entering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:17px\">What are your thoughts on this week&#8217;s travel update?
